JANUARY PAINTING SHOWCASE

Hi all and welcome to another monthly round up of the hobby progress the spartans have been working on in Lockdown 3.0 and boy do we have another bumper month of high quantity and equally high quality models for your perusal pleasure! So without further ado lets get on with the show… case , remember you can always click on the pictures for a closer look.

First up we have Laffan with some awesome looking Kingdom of death models and harlequin jet bikes. its been a while since we’ve seen John enter into the showcase but its a delight when he does. great flesh and leather work on the hangman and he has really got the highlight and shadows in sync across the whole model, very well done! I love the little weird bug frog things with their mottled skin tones and subtle highlights but the eyes have been really well done to give a moist glistening effect and then he throws in some excellent harlequin jetbikes with great checkers and colour transitions… awesome work buddy love all of this!

next we have Paul D with the return and rebuild of his beloved garden shed/summer house (glorious man palace) he has been able to start knocking out more lovely models and this time its a flaming hot looking warband with a great looking muted deep red and black scheme. The flesh looks so good and the flames are so well done and he’s knocked up some sweet looking scenery as well to top things off! Great to see you back at it buddy!

Up next we have Rich with his first entry to the showcase for quite a while and he’s made a splash with a rather dashing Venom marvel model and another with some super neat black and white paint work and a loverly deep red tongue all of which looks great on a scenic base… welcome back mate and we all can’t wait to see some more models soon!

Up next we have Dan King who has been working on more of his WW2 era models, which look absolutely fabulous in all of their camo glory! Great work on all of the fabric and camo designs and the bases really give a desert feel. However, the flamethrower looks baller AF and my personal fave is the transitions on the tank in that lovely German grey and dust effects really makes it come to life. such a great array of entries bud!

next we have Joe who has been experimenting with some speed painting and has knocked out a super quick and super cool looking angry ork with nice use of the greens and browns for a complimentary colour pallet that works well for the organic feel of an ork warrior, love the use of the blue blade to create a contrast colour. great stuff buddy we look forward to more entries from your good self!

Next we have Samuel and his first attempt at NMM, which for a first attempt is incredibly good. Fantastic blending on the grey scale for the silver and also the gold. However, what the green is also very well done and the small blends on the tabards and consistent placement of the light sources also means the NMM looks good (its all about that consistent light source). The flesh tones are also great as it can be much harder to paint darker and browner skin tones well… all in all an exceptional paint job sir!

Next we have Will who has painted up a very cool and weird looking model and highlighted with a great use of contrasting colours in a vibrant fashion. The blending across the model is really well done especially on the arms with the good use of colours to create a warmth that contrasts against cool green and alien grass… very well done indeed!

Up next we have Dunk and another bevy of chaos marines of the Nightlord variety…. once again a lovely crisp blue across all the armour panels and nice and neat edging and trim all over and some wicked awesome looking flames nicely blended. on the chaplain. Such a good looking army contrasting nicely against the red bases. stunning as always Dunkers!

Up next we have Paul E and some of his new Ork army units, which look great and i really like the use of the well painted red armour against the green skin for max contrast and the yellow and blue for that matter against the skin which has been done very well. Also love the grass bases for a very cool finish, nice work buddy!

Next we have Barry AKA Big Tasty AKA Bazatron Prime AKA Baranoid Android… i could go on but instead lets look at the rather splendid looking models he’s painted. First up he’s only gone and painted some WW2 armoured company with accompanying military cavalry with some fantastic camo and horse hair on some lovely bases, love the worn armour effect on the tanks. Sir Bazalot has also knocked up some Marvel-ous superheroes completed with scenic bases to give a great feel to both minis and painted very nicely especially the tough to do yellows, lovely stuff buddy!

Next we have Dan G who has continued to knock out some fierce looking warriors and has created some great flame effects and has really been working on his flesh tones and highlighting the robes and fabric to give depth to the models and nice use of black and red for interest in their wardrobe choices. nice work dude!

Next we have Adrian and some superb looking pink horrors which have been done really well especially the depth of the shadows to create the contrast across the flesh tones. Pinks and purples can be very difficult to paint as they can be both warm and cool colours so getting the contrast can be tricky but Adrian has managed it extremely well with soft blends and nice use of small accent colours these are an A* piece of work!

Next we have Joel and some more of his lovely looking Custodes with the muted gold and red accent colours and the nice blended shoulder pads and the nicely painted blue gems but the best i think is the really nice nice red/brown leather gloves that have a really authentic leather look to them with scuffs and worn areas. fantastic work as always bud!

Next we have John and the start of some of his new Blood Angel army with a very clean and crisp paint job across each of the models especially the death company. John has made some very clean blends to create depth to the reds of the red armour, cloak and robes. Love the use of alien grass for some really cool thematic basing to give a cool xenos conquering feel! we defo look forward to seeing more from John in the future!

Next we have Neil and more of his Custodes and the lovely tarnished gold and he’s mixed it up with black armour panels as an accent colour which almost gives them a whole new feel compared the usual red. Great work on the power weapons and land raider looks delicious as its tough to get contrast on gold across such large panels. Once again he knocks it out of the park and we await the next instalment impatiently!

Next we have Marcos who has been a busy little bard painting up some stunning looking Sigmarines in a great alternative armour colour scheme. Choosing instead to use the gold as just the trim and with white as an accent colour with a lovely deep blue highlighted nicely to create a very cool scheme that pops, very clean and crisp paint job all round for the start of a great looking army. keep it up buddy!

Up next we have Luke who has spent another month painting a hodgepodge of different minis with some more of his detailed Custodes this time some excellent looking jet bikes with some great work on the leather gloves and boots. Luke’s also had a pop at some Eldar with a lovely traditional yellow and blue scheme which is very clean and crisp with some cool snowy bases but absolute fave are the big ol’ crystallised troll thing in leather bikini! great work on the crystals and the leather, really nice work bud!

Next we have Jon who’s had a go at painting up some grey Knights with some lovely bright blue glowing power weapons with some nice transitions across the blades. I like the slightly darker metallic look to the armour as it helps to create more interest against the gold trim and red accent colours. he’s also used some cool looking bases to give a really battle worn scenic feel to them as well. great job buddy!

Next we have Rob who’s been flitting between 3 armies with some more of his loverly looking Minotaurs with a hover tank with some nice red and black trim. He’s also knocked up some of the imperial guardsmen in white busby’s and snowy bases which look great and the heavy bolter team looks fantastic but the creme de menthe is the House Audax titans in a lovely mottled burgundy scheme with golden trim with their Ursus claws and they have great poses as they look like they are stalking their next victim to drag it to the ground… lovely work buddy!

And last but in no way least we have Will D with some more of his awesome looking deathwatch models all of which are nice and crisply painted. Especially with their individual chapter colours on their shoulder and metallic left arms this is a very well executed job and there is some great detail on the apothecary like the screen and vials. very nice work bud!

So there we have it for another month in lockdown its been a hugely successful one and we hope its inspired you to get the brushes out in February. so until next time hasta la vista baby!
